Of course, the best thing to do is avoid getting tangles as much as possible because it leads to breakage of your hair. Please see my other videos about preventing tangles and breakage at sleeptime, etc. Unfortunately, we can’t always avoid them, so I have some suggestions for you on how to detangle your hair gently and safely to minimize breakage. If you are going to grow our hair long and want it to look beautiful and healthy, you have to as careful as possible when combing and brushing. I have several tips for you about how to do that and always remember to condition your hair (not scalp) after every shampoo. This helps lock in moisture and allows you to comb it out easily with minimal hair breakage and long. Never brush your hair when it’s wet! I hope you like my video. Comments are always welcome and don’t forget to subscribe! There’s lots more to come!

Hi, thanks so much for sharing! I’m sure others will appreciate your advice

I think your video is great. You give very good tips for detangling hair.
In the winter time my hair tangles a lot (I have naturally curly hair) and I’ve finally found a detangler that actually works for my hair. I prevent tangles by spraying it to my towel dried hair. The product is Andrew Collinge’s Perfect Endings, it’s actually a heat protective product but works great as a detangler, so you get both in one go
Just brush it before you go to bed
THANKS! i have a knotting problem too! my hair is really thick and when i wake up in the morning its like a mat! and i brush my hair alot! i also use the tip at the beginning of the video!
Thx 4 the tips! I’ll keep trying to braid it.. its just hard for her to hold still after 3 hrs of brushing..lol oh well..thx again!
Hi, I understand your frustration. Sometimes certain clothing can exacerbate the problem, like tops with hoods. Try to avoid them. Everyone gets some tangles overnight. If method of wearing your hair to bed is not helping, try braiding it; either one braid down the back or one on each side. Reducing static in your hair may also help. Just smooth a little leave-in conditioner through your hair (not scalp hair) before you go out for the day.
My hair is pretty long, and i put it up before bed. My hair is always tangled in the morning. During the day when i wear it down it knots in just a few minutes. Even if i wear it in a ponytail it is still tangled…What can i do!?
Try making a pretty french braid (I have a video tutorial on this if you need help), or regular braids, or even little pigtails. Any hairstyle that keeps her hair together and protects it from constant movement.
Hi, that can be a common problem with little girls and unfortunately, she probably has the type of hair that is very prone to tangling. You’re right, there probably isn’t going to be a magic potion for her at this point since you have tried everything. My suggestion to you is to bundle her hair so her active lifestyle doesn’t tangle her hair anymore.
my niece gets some serious mattes in her hair..within a day..and they are almost impossible to get out…detanglers dont work, tried stuff to take out dredlocs..cant get anything to work…any ideas?? If i use a comb or brush, it really hurts her head, and takes about 3 hours to get most of them out..she’s only 4 so any solutions help!! Thx <3

OMG so do I my hair gets really tangly and it takes at least a hour to get out.
I’m so glad to here that. The trick with tangles is to try your very best to prevent them because they really are so annoying to get out. I do have some helpful tips posted on acne in my YouTips Forum Video called: YouTips Forum Part Two – Help for Acne Pimples, Chapped/Flaky lips, Clean Makeup Brushes. Please check it out when you have some time. Hope that helps

Hi, please do come back and let me know how it worked. Thanks for your comment!
Lucky duck!
I heard that leaving in conditioner works. I get baseball sized tangles and sometimes even spray wont help and pulling it just hirts. Once I even got a comb stuck in. I have seriously contimplated judt choping the whole thing off but then my hair would be viciously short. I am trying to grow it out. Anyway, I am about to take a shower, I will try what you suggested and let you know how it works out:)
Hi, when your hair is wet, it’s best to use a wide-tooth comb and comb out gently. When your hair is dry it’s best to use a brush.
What is better, a brush or a comb/wide-tooth comb?
Thanks so much for making this vid! very helpful
VERY helpful for me!
